November 2025

Winter Safe Shelter

Winter Safe Shelter has been open for over a full month now, and both our Men’s and Women’s locations have been incredibly busy.

Winter Safe Shelter is unique in the fact that it’s open every night — offering consistent, immediate shelter through the winter months — and that it’s high-access, meaning that guests are not required to have IDs or to be sober to access temporary shelter.

Here’s a quick overview of what November at Winter Safe Shelter looked like:

Winter Safe Shelter staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that guests have a safe place to rest every night, and we are incredibly grateful for all of their effort and dedication in launching and sustaining this expansion.

Get a deeper look into the impact of Winter Safe Shelter in this Asheville Citizen-Times article, which includes a powerful statement about Men’s Winter Safe Shelter from one of our guests: “The difference between this and not this, is life. Literally. It’s life or death.”
